My family and a bunch of our friends went to the Blue Mountains last weekend to do some apple picking. Unfortunately most of the apples were picked by the time we got there :( At least the trip to the Botanical Gardens was enjoyable.
While working on my secret Mass Effect project (and who knows when I’ll finish THAT but I’ll keep at it anyway), my brain screamed at me to do abstract nudes because it has nothing better to do. So here they are, the first batch of my Bodyscape series. Hope you like! :)
“Indelible”
Not much to say here, it’s just another render of my Cullen model but this time he’s got a tattoo of the templar crest. If you’re familiar with my work then my inclusion of tattoos should come as no surprise XD The title of the piece not only refers to the indelibility of the tattoo but also of his templar training. Which is kind of deep considering this is essentially a gratuitous shirtless Cullen pic but there you have it :P
“Contemplate” (fan art of Cullen from the Dragon Age games)
I’m posting this again because I didn’t really give any explanation regarding the piece, and I know a few people are interested to find out more about the art decisions when I made it.
Ordinarily when I make a character portrait I let a bit of their personality show but in this case I didn’t know much about Cullen. What I do know was that despite his horrible experience in Origins at the hands of Uldred he became a matured, reasonable man in DA2 especially towards the end. I can really imagine him spending a lot of time thinking about all these mages and templar issues, particularly at the time when he starts sensing that something’s not quite right with Meredith.
The look of this piece was inspired by one of my favourite B&W photographs, “The Devout” by Edwin Martinez. I wanted to portray Cullen alone with his thoughts, the templar banner in the background together with his body language and facial expression hinting at the solemnity of his contemplations as well as the burden of his duties. This idea is also communicated with the way I lighted the scene - the dramatic play of light and shadow only reinforces the seriousness of his thoughts; it wouldn’t have had the same vibe if I used a soft box, I think it would’ve lessened the emotional impact. Doing this piece in B&W was a no-brainer for me as well, colour would’ve distracted the viewers and I wanted them to focus on what he might be thinking about.
Well that’s what I was aiming for, at least. As always I leave the interpretation to the viewers. :)

Yay I finally made a render using my Cullen model.
You know, I just realised if/when Cullen appears in Dragon Age 3 there’s a chance that BioWare might alter his appearance again.
Oh well, BRING IT.
I finally get some time to do some renders and what do I make as my first piece of the year? Ay yay yay.
Here’s a look back at the pieces I made in 2012. I only made one traditional sculpture for the year, hopefully I’ll make more this year :)
BWAHAHAA! Here’s my small contribution for Thane Smut Week - DAT GLORIOUS GREEN ASS. I wanted to do something porn-ish but also something that looks a bit different… eh I thought it was a good idea at that time. Now I can’t stop giggling at it. I CAN’T HELP MYSELF OK? XP
Mary - Final Plaster version by *Louvette
Yay finally done with this sculpture. I finished it just in time for our trip to the Philippines. It was my gift to my parents so I left it with them but not before taking a photo of it.
This final piece is made with plaster but I’m hoping the way I painted it looks like it’s made of bronze instead hehehe.
A Ruined Vessel of Sorrow And Regret by *Louvette
I thought this render was going to take only three days but I was wrong, so wrong. It’s been five days now and the render’s nowhere near finished, and I think that’s mainly because my Samara model’s got way more polygons than my usual models. Anyway I was getting anxious so I just cropped the render and allowed the grainy look to come through. Figured the texture of the piece was appropriate given the title I made for it :)
