Just A Fangirl

Nudity isn’t just to titillate the viewer, it can also be a symbol.  I’d be the first to admit that a lot of my nude renders aim for the former but in the case of my Samara portrait, it’s the latter.  If my aim were to titillate the viewer her expression would be different, I would’ve shown more skin and perhaps posed her in a provocative way but nope, this time around I wanted to portray Samara in an honest way, not as a Justicar but as a mum who’s endured so much.  I used nudity as a symbol of her inner, true self as well as a symbol of vulnerability.

Well that was my intent at any rate.  If anyone sees the portrait as sexual I apologise but I didn’t mean it to be like that at all. ^_^’

I thought this render was going to take only three days but I was wrong, so wrong.  It’s been five days now and the render’s nowhere near finished, and I think that’s mainly because my Samara model’s got way more polygons than my usual models.  Anyway I was getting anxious so I just cropped the render and allowed the grainy look to come through.  Figured the texture of the piece was appropriate given the title I made for it :)

Well finally textured my Samara model (though I still want to refine it and most likely I will) so now I’m rendering a portrait.  Only now that I look at it again I’m not entirely happy with the way I lighted the scene T_T  Ah well I might as well finish rendering it (probably done in 48 hours’ time) and just create another portrait.

Here’s a sneak peek of the model I’m working at the moment.  I can’t stay for long periods in front of my computer (I still need that bed rest after all) so I have absolutely no idea when I’ll finish.  I have the basic asari texture done but I need to paint more Samara-specific features on it.

Here’s a preview of the 3D model I’m currently working on.  After playing my FemShep who romanced Liara and saw the asari naked (bizarre that Liara was naked while Shep was not) I was mesmerised by her lovely skin texture and wanted to create my version of her.  

I’m just working on a base asari model for now so later on if I want to create the other Asari (oooh I want to create Aria & Samara) it would just be a matter of sculpting the facial features and tweaking the skin texture.
